Inside: Review and recommendations for silly butt books.
Hi Friends! Have you come across this ridiculously funny book: I Need a New Butt! It was written 7 years ago but I’ve only just discovered it.
That’s because my daughter-in-law came home with it this weekend. Given that 6-year-old Olin is deep into potty humour she just HAD to get it.
He and his 3-year-old sister both loved it. Not laugh-out-loud-rolling-in-the-aisles loved it, but they were both very amused by it and the little one wanted a second and third reading.
Not sure I would read it to my class though. I know K’s to 3 would enjoy it, but some parents might be offended. You never know…

Synopsis (from the back of the book)
A young boy suddenly notices a big problem — his butt has a huge crack! So he sets off to find a new one. Will he choose an armor-plated butt? A rocket butt? A robot butt? Find out in this quirky tale featuring hilarious rhymes and delightful illustrations. Children and parents will love this book — no ifs, ands, or butts about it!
Why I Like This Book
As a mother of two boys and now the grandmother of a young boy, you can imagine all the potty humour I’ve had to endure over the years. Sadly, or perhaps happily? I’ve come to enjoy it — if only to see the sheer delight this kind of humour brings young kids, and boys in particular.
I thought the book was light-hearted and fun, with lots of hilarious pictures. The rhyming text is cute and flows effortlessly. My only minor complaint is the ending: it falls flat. But fortunately it’s easy enough to overlook and neither of my grandkids commented on it.

If your kids are REALLY into silly butt books, they might like the ones below. I haven’t read any of them but they all have good ratings on Amazon.
Enjoy!
The Butt Book (Excerpt from Amazon):
Tall butts, short butts, round butts, flat butts.
Butts on mummies and butts on mommies.
Butts on giraffes and elephants and dogs and… FISH?
Yes, even fish butts are celebrated in this tribute to backsides, rumps, tushies, keisters, heinies, and derrieres. Dozens of funny rhymes and pages of laugh-out-loud pictures pay homage to a body part that keeps kids and grown-ups giggling with glee.
Bottoms up!

Whose Butt? (Excerpt from Amazon):
Butts are funny―especially to kids. Award-winning wildlife photographer Stan Tekiela takes advantage of this giggle-worthy topic, using it as an educational bridge to introduce children to facts about animals. Readers are shown an animal’s behind and asked to guess, “Whose butt?” Then it’s time to turn the page and discover the answer! Regardless of your age, you’re sure to laugh while you learn, so get to the bottom of animal butts with this wonderful picture book.

Where is My Butt? (Excerpt from Amazon):
Do you know where your butt is? Morty the penguin doesn’t!
Morty is pretty sure he has a butt, but where exactly IS it? So he does what any reasonable penguin would do: ask. But no one in the South Pole can help—not the other penguins, not the polar bear who shouldn’t be there, and definitely not the seal who wants to eat him for dinner. So Morty goes on a wild trip—from his frozen home to the steamy South American jungle and finally to outer space—to find the answer. And Morty finally does . . . in the most unexpected way. His crazy adventures will make kids laugh their butts off!

Chicken Butt (Excerpt from Amazon):
You know what?
What?
Chicken butt!
The classic schoolyard joke has been recast as an irreverent picture book, with call-and-response parts for parent and child. The word repetition in Erica S. Perl’s text, and wonderfully comic illustrations by beloved artist Henry Cole, make this a particularly inviting book for new readers, as does the opportunity to “trick” a parent or other adult into participating in a very silly joke. The humor builds to a surprising and satisfying conclusion. Warning: Kids will want to read this one over and over and over again!

I Broke My Butt (Excerpt from Amazon):
The inventive young hero from the bestselling I Need a New Butt! is back and this time he has accidentally glued a serving tray to his behind — and he’s tickled pink! See, it’s great for sliding down hills, surfing big waves, and other booty-full fun and games. Now all his friends want one too! Another cracked farce from the cheeky team of Dawn McMillan and Ross Kinnaird.

Whose Baby Butt? (Excerpt from Amazon):
Laugh while you learn about baby animals. From fuzzy to feathery, baby animal butts are the silliest sights in nature. This hilarious book is the perfect companion to Whose Butt?, an acclaimed picture book by award-winning wildlife photographer Stan Tekiela. Readers are shown a baby animal’s behind and asked to guess, “Whose baby butt is this?” Then it’s time to turn the page and discover the answer! The interactive text and sensational photographs will have kids laughing out loud as they’re introduced to a new variety of North American critters.
