Inside: A booklet with 7 Halloween poems for young kids.
BOO! Happy Halloween!
I have a spooky treat for you today.
I just finished putting together a brand new booklet of Halloween poems.
With the exception of the Witch poem by Rowena Bennett the authors are unknown. However, if you happen to know who wrote any of the poems, please let me know in the comments and I’ll happily make the appropriate changes.
The Best Part!
When I was teaching Grade 1 it was always nice when I was able to plan a lesson without a lot of prep, especially around busy times like Halloween.
And these poems definitely fit the bill.
Just print them out, read them together with your class, and let the kids colour away to their hearts’ content.
Poetry Idea
It’s super fun to assign one of the poems to a small group of kids, maybe 3 or 4. Challenge them to work together reading the poem until they’re fluent enough to present it to the class.
If there’s time, you can even let the kids work out some actions to do.
My class ALWAYS loved this activity and we called it Poetry Theatre. I hope you give it a try!
7 Halloween Poems
There are 7 poems in this bundle. You can see from the images how incredibly cute they all are!
I think they’re perfect for Grades 1 to 3. And actually, the poem “What To Be?” would be great for kindergarten.

If you’re looking for more Halloween poems I have LOTS more to choose from.
Be sure to pop back in tomorrow. I’ll have a Halloween word search to share with you. They’re easy for Grades 2 and 3, but even Grade 1 students can do them, especially if they’re working in a little group where they can support each other.
Enjoy your Halloween week, friends!
The poems are lovely, thank you so much.
You’re very welcome, Leslie. Have a wonderful week!
