We made our last minute Father's Day cards today and I think they turned out pretty well.
I went to Michael's and bought some corrugated cardboard cards and matching envelopes (30 for $8). Yes! They were on sale.
I have a heart punch and a scalloped circle punch, too. So we used those for the shapes which were cut from scrapbook paper.
Everyone in the class was easily able to make these. The only tricky part for a few of them was making sure the card opened the right way. Very very careful listening was required -- ha!
Happy "almost" weekend!
5 more teaching days for me :)

Ha! Ha! I had to laugh at what you said about the cards opening the right way. That is so much harder than it sounds! The cards look cute with the scrapbook paper shapes. How sweet for the dad's.

Hi Chrissy,
DeleteIt's pretty funny, isn't it? I never would have believed that until I started teaching haha.
Thanks for the sweet comment!
What cute cards! I'm afraid Father's Day is something I've never gotten to celebrate. We always get out too early(as if that were possible!) and dads get lost in the end of the year, Memorial Day, summer mash-up. What do you do about children who don't know their fathers? (Sad but true question for me!)

Hi Jenny,
DeleteFor the kids who don't have Dads I give them a choice. So depending on the situation they make one for their mom, or grandpa or step-dad ... whoever kind of fills that roll. It's a tough one, but it's always worked out well that way. :)
There's always at least one in the crowd whose card doesn't open right. Good thing dads love their words regardless. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! You got THAT right, Tammy:)
