The Magic of Mo

Last week I wrote about the funniest book ever! That was an Elephant and Piggie book by Mo Willems. We’ve read a whole bunch of them now, including all the Pigeon books. Last week the kids wrote their own 5-page stories in the style of Mo Willems. I told them they could use Piggie and Gerald as their characters or … Read more

Fluent Reading

Edward Tulane Reflections

We just finished reading this beautiful novel. This was just the most beautiful story about a toy (thinking) rabbit, who learns to open his heart and feel love. After we finished it we had a great discussion about the story and its meaning. Then the kids painted their favourite scene and wrote about it.

Scaredy Squirrel Freebie

Scaredy Squirrel, we love you! We’ve spent the last week looking at a variety of Scaredy books. Well, not Halloween or Christmas, but all the others! Like most 6-year-olds, my class adores these books. Before we read the birthday party book I had my kids predict what they thought Scaredy was afraid of this time! He’s such a silly squirrel. … Read more
