Gobble Gobble Gobble

Last week was mostly about turkeys. Here are a few activities we completed.

These tie-dyed turkeys were super easy to make.

I gave the children a coffee filter which they covered in felt pen (no black or brown allowed). I asked them to cover most of the filter; it’s okay if some of it is left white. Also, it doesn’t matter if they scribble as everything all runs together.

I then loosely folded the filter and quickly dipped it in some water. I laid them out to dry on two pieces of paper towel and an hour later … beautiful tie-dyed turkey feathers!

The kids had a lot of fun with this one. We brainstormed all the things a turkey can do (I wrote them out on the smart board) and some funny things that turkeys can’t do.

I haven’t figured out how to scan yet (shocking, I know!) so here’s a different turkey template you can use:

Years ago I inherited a hand-made big book called “Old T. Turkey”.  It was written by someone called C. George, but I really don’t have any details. We read the story all week, then I printed out the file below and made booklets for the kids. We read the story some more and they printed in the missing words and coloured in the pics.

You can grab the 7-page booklet by clicking here. You’ll need to copy them back-to-back and then fold down so that the book opens vertically, not horizontally. It’s a little tricky to figure out the photocopying but I have great faith in you:)
