Do you remember our beanie babies? Not all of them survived their baggie/necklace homes:))
So I bought some sunflower seeds. Everyone has planted a sunflower and some lucky ones have also planted their beanie babies.
We're keeping track of their growth with a weekly diary. You can click either image to grab.
Last week I did this drama activity with my kids that was quite amazing. I dictated the story below (A Tree Grows) while the children silently acted it out.
I paused throughout the narration and tapped several children on the shoulder. Those children said one word describing how they were feeling.
At the end of the drama I gave the children an opportunity to discuss their feelings and experiences as they pretended to be small apple seeds growing into trees.
I thought it was quite powerful and the kids LOVED it!
Click the image if you'd like the 3-page copy. (BTW, this story has been in my file for probably 20 years and I have no idea who wrote it.)
Have a great evening!

DeleteI am sure your first graders had a lot of fun acting this out! Wonderful way to help them with comprehension of the story and I'm sure cute to watch. :)
