I just got back from Vancouver where my husband and I ran the Lululemon Half Marathon! We flew over and back from harbour to harbour and both trips were sunny and fabulous. There’s nothing prettier than looking at the Gulf Islands from the air.
We had a ton of fun with this run … but I have to say it was HOT and HILLY. But, it was also the prettiest run I’ve ever done. At least half of it was waterfront — really gorgeous.
Here are a few pictures:
Les and I in downtown Vancouver with the laughing men.
Vancouver from the 39th floor of our hotel room.
Did I mention how many people there were? It was crazy. I lined up in the 4th wave cause I was dealing with a minor injury and wasn’t sure how I’d do. Can you see the start balloons WAY down the street?
Les just before the start.
So sweet … although I didn’t actually see any runners getting married.
I still have 3 weeks of summer holidays … ahh … so sweet!

Have fun Wednesday π
It was SUPER beautiful. I feel so fortunate to be living here!
Looks so beautiful there! I love that you and your husband run together:) Aloha,CorinnaSurfin' Through Second
WOW! What a view! How fun (exhausting?)! LOVE the pics.
We often train together, but we never run races together. I find it too stressful — ha ha! But yeah, it's great having a live-in training partner π
It WAS exhausting! The heat got to me and I was sick for about 2 hours afterwards. But I bounced back after lying down and drinking lots of liquids … so we ended up having a great day.
Looks like a blast!!! I LOVE summer vacation! Enjoy!!!! π
Wow! Congrats on finishing in this heat!
Summer is the BEST!
Thanks! It wasn't my best time but at least I can blame it on the sun π
Congratulations on your half marathon. Love the picture of you and your husband by the laughing men in English Bay : )Getting married by the Cauldron would be pretty cool – very public but a cool locationsandirubber boots and elf shoes

Loved looking at all of your photos Barabara!MarieThe Hands-On Teacher in First!
Hi!!! I just spent all afternoon reading your blog. I'm a k teacher with a few years experience but will be teaching grade one next year for the first time. It's so nice to find a blog from a teacher in bc!!! Do you have any tips you can pass along for big picture things. I'm trying to get a sense of my timing in terms of a weekly/ daily schedule. I have lots of ideas ( and lots of unknowns) but when it comes down to it I'm not sure what's realistic ( after the first month or so when they're basically still kinders ) I have thoughts of guided reading/ daily5/ spelling/ math journals etc etc spinning through my head and I'm needing some guidance on what will work day to day and how I should split up my time for grade one learners. I'd love to get some tips from someone who is keeping up with the times, such as yourself!!! Any advice?
Hi Chels!I'd love to help you out. But you'll have to email me (click on the pink envelope at the very top of my blog). I can't find an email address on your profile. And the comment box isn't really the place for me to give you some ideas :)Talk soon.Barb
Thanks Dee, Jenny and Marie :))
