In My Tree: Book Review

This week’s perfect picture book is a bit of a departure for me. Most of you know that I have a brand new grandson.  I’ve already bought him a few books and now I’m starting a baby library at home.

You also might remember that his initials are OWL. His mom and dad did this on purpose because they want him to be wise.

And I would like him to grow up with a respect for nature (which I’m sure he will, because his parents are out-doorsy people). But with that in mind, I’ve started buying him different animal books.

The one I got last week is called In My Tree, and of course, it features an owl.

Why I Like This Book: Because it’s short, engaging and totally interactive. It’s the perfect little person’s first book.

There is a whole series of these books and I also bought In My Forest and In My Ocean because we’re lucky enough to live on an island full of lush forests!

And here’s a gorgeous fun foam owl craft older kids could make. It’s from Kids Craft (Sorry I had to remove the link. I think their blog is now gone).

Before I go I would like to (in fact, I’m deliriously happy to) give a MEGA shout-out to my new blog friend, Leslie. She’s the Groovy Teacher (LOVE that name!) and hails from Quebec, Canada. I have lots of cherished American blog friends, but there’s just something so fun and special when you find a blogging teacher in your own country.

Leslie has a fun blog with a TON of great ideas. I’m NOT exaggerating! She’s also extremely generous and GAVE me (yes, you heard that right ~ GAVE me her Super Deluxe Math Package). I opened it up earlier today and it’s fabulous. There are 200 full page word problems. The problems aren’t too hard but not too easy and the graphics are so sweet.

Her advice is to start your math lessons with a problem-a-day. I’m definitely starting this on Monday. Thank you so much, Leslie!

If you’re looking for something like this, head on over to her TpT store.

Be sure to hook up with Susanna. She’s the force behind Perfect Picture Book Friday!

  1. What a charming book. Love the interactive finger puppets. I have been looking for books for young children to give to her nephew. These books fit the bill perfectly. Thank you for your suggestion.

  2. Barbara, congratulations on being a grandma. I have four grands and they are the delight of my life (don't tell my husband). I love the unique art in these books and the little owl rattle. Looks like this grandma is going shopping.
