Journal Covers: Freebie!

Today was Day 3 with my new group of first graders.

This is a chatty, but very sweet class. I'm pretty sure we're going to have lots of fun this year.

Like a lot of you, I have my kids write in journals. These are just the half and half books, blank space up top for pictures, and interlined lines below for writing.

My kids write every single day. Their writing is a mixture of independent journal writing and teacher-directed writing. And by the end of the year, I have to say, most of them are pretty darn good little writers. For me, LOTS of writing is the key.

I always give my class a cover page to decorate and glue onto their exercise books so that they have a sense of ownership. Plus it's just fun to see all the different and colourful covers. So today I went through my HUGE pile of book covers from years past, but didn't like a single one. So I made a new set. Here they are. I always give the kids the grayscale copy so they can colour their own, but I've included a coloured version...just in case:)  All you have to do is click on either image and you'll be whooshed away to my google drive where you can snag your own freebie.

The very cute clipart is courtesy of Cliparts.co.
