My blog friends, Miss Trayer, from Not Just Child’s Play, and Tammy, from Forever in First, have been sharing the books they’ve been reading and I always get some great ideas from them.
Seeing as how I have 4 MORE TEACHING DAYS until my summer break AND my goal is to read 20 books this summer, I thought I’d share some of my most recent reads, too.
The Rosie Project is a beautiful book about the quirky and lovable Don Tillman and his quest to find the perfect wife. I LOVED this book!
The Rosie Effect is the sequel to The Rosie Project: I don’t want to say too much in case you haven’t read the first one, but it was just as delightful.
Rain Reign was a sweet and charming book about an autistic girl, Rose, who’s obsessed with homonyms. So when her dad gives her a dog she names her Rain (reign, rein). The story really begins when Rain goes missing after a storm and Rose is determined to find her.
I didn’t love this book, but I was very glad to have read it. The ending was a bit tough, but it was still the perfect ending.
The Girl on the Train was a GREAT thriller! My husband and good friend also read it and they loved it as much as I did.
Confession time: I’m addicted to urban fantasy. Murder of Crows and Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop are the 2nd and 3rd in “The Others” series. The Others are ancient earth forms who grudgingly let humans live in controlled settlements. The stories revolve around Simon (a wolf who shifts to human form) and Meg (a cassandra sangue, or blood prophet). Sounds weird, I know, but the plot is great and very suspenseful.
I finished Me and Earl and the Dying Girl two days ago and really enjoyed it. It’s narrated by 17-year-old Greg. His world is radically changed when his mother forces him to befriend the girl next door who’s just been diagnosed with leukemia. Sounds dreary, but trust me, it isn’t. It’s pretty raw and in-your-face funny.
Happy reading!

Good on you, Barb. \”Cause it is crazy-busy time at school right now.
I'm so glad your recommended The Rosie Project months ago, because I sure enjoyed it. I'm line for the sequel! I also loved The Girl on the Train. So so good. I'll have to look up the last one. I just a preview for the movie version just this week. Thanks for the ideas! (I'm working on my 12th book of the month at the moment.)
It sure is! But I read every night in bed so I can fall asleep.
Oh! You're welcome, Tammy. I'm glad you liked it so much. A warning about \”Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl\” … there's a LOT of gross teenage boy stuff in there and a fair bit of profanity. But having raised two boys I found it hilarious:)
By my count, you are on break??? Hope you're enjoying it! I've been on the run a lot so far on my break, but I have found time to read, read, read! :-)CrystalTeaching Little Miracles
