Hi Everyone!
We’ve just begun an ocean unit in my class and I have a few activities to share with you. You can download a free pdf file with a research sheet, 11 poems, and a science experiment. The download is below.
I LOVE studying the ocean. We live on Vancouver Island on the West Coast of Canada so it’s very easy for us to access any number of beaches when we’re learning about the ocean.
OCEAN POETRY
Here’s a sampling of the ocean poems I’ve included in this package:
SCIENCE EXPERIMENT
And here’s an easy, but fun, science experiment that’s also included. It comes with instructions and an explanation.

GRAFFITI NOTES
One of you fantastic bloggers (and for the life of me I cannot remember who!!) had a post about Graffiti notes. We did that last Friday after watching an ocean video and it was a huge hit. Here are some pics from that.
If you haven’t tried Graffiti notes yet, you must! The kids talked about the ocean and its creatures constantly while they were drawing. I think it’s an excellent way to encourage them to extend their thinking and vocabulary.
Be sure to visit my other Ocean posts. I have lots of different ideas and printables to share.
Have a great evening!
Oh my Goodness!! I’m sorry, but I just had to update this post ’cause I just found out I won Jennifer’s Brag Tag giveaway.
