Spelling Art

First up, I'd like to thank Lory at Fun for First.

She posted the coolest idea for spelling a couple of days ago and I stole it right from under her. It was a HUGE success with my kids. You really need to try it. We actually did this for the last two days in a row.  I don't know what Lory's calling it .... but maybe Spelling Art?

I spread a looooong piece of paper across three tables and asked the kids to practice their spelling words. I told them they could be as creative as they liked, but they had to print each word a few times (either separately or on top of the previous spelling).

Oooh, so pretty.

This little girl was so sweet. See how she has her hand against her forehead? That's because I told them they couldn't just chat away and write their words mindlessly, they had to really think about them and say the letters out loud when they were printing them. She has her eyes shut, face scrunched up, and is deep in thought. I love it!

Today after they had finished a bunch of words I let them cut out their own section and take it home. Yes! That was a big hit, too. Grade 1s are so easy to please.

And I mustn't forget: THANK YOU to everyone who tagged me. You would think that being a runner and all I would be able to get away from these people! But no, not a chance :)

I will try very very hard to post some tagging info about myself in the next few days.

I'm off to walk Max. Have a great evening!
